Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.

* Supervises all activities, documentation, policies and procedures needed for accreditation and regulatory compliance, including, but not limited to College of American Pathologists (CAP), The Joint Commission, and California Department of Public Health. Supervises Point-of-Care program.

* Required: CA approved equivalency of CLS

* Preferred: BS and 12 month internship at school of medical technology

* Licensure/Certification

* Required: CLS California state license

* Preferred: ASCP or equivalent

* Experience

* Required: Minimum 3 years as CLS or MLS

* Essential Responsibilities

* Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.

* Ensures compliance with CAP accreditation and other regulatory body requirements to maintain inspection readiness.

* Maintains/ensures CAP Lab General checklist compliance.

* Collaborates with colleagues to ensure compliance with CAP requirements.

* Supervises hospital Point-of-Care (POCT) program and is able to perform all duties of POCT Coordinator.

* Supervises Client Service department and is able to perform all job functions of staff in the department.

* Interviews and recommends for hire. Trains staff, performs competency assessment, evaluations.

* Provides coaching and counseling.

* Assists with lab billing issues and/or serves as billing resource.

* Enrolls laboratory in appropriate proficiency testing programs and supervises timely submission of results as well as review of results once returned from agency.

* Supervises laboratory Quality Management Plan including timely and appropriate reporting of Quality Indicators (QI). for all areas of lab. Ensures that appropriate action plans are developed and executed for QI monitors not meeting goal.

* Performs periodic internal audit of all departments to ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.

* Investigates Incident Reports (IR) and resolves with appropriate supervisor. Monitors IRs for trends and develops improvement plan.

* Participates/leads investigations of non-compliance, performs root cause analysis and ensures corrective action/preventative action processes are in place.

* Investigates HIPAA violations, develops and implements plan to prevent future occurrences with appropriate department supervisor.

* Participates and/or leads process improvement/lean projects with laboratory supervisors and laboratory team members with goal of improving quality on an ongoing basis.

* Analyses reports and develops plan of action in areas in need of improvement. Collaborates with appropriate supervisor to implement plan.

* Performs other duties as assigned.
