ARRIVE is looking for self-motivated, hard-working Sous Chefs to join our team! We strive to create a fun, exciting & enjoyable workplace to grow professionally & within our team. Being a positive & proactive individual is a must. We are looking for strong Sous Chefs to manage daily prep, ordering, assist on the line when needed & provide mentorship to our cooks. This is a very hands-on position with the opportunity to become an invaluable team member.

Key Responsibilities

Prepares or directly supervises the daily preparation of kitchen items (all prepared foods)

Assists Executive Sous Chef with monthly inventories, pricing, cost controls, requisitioning and issuing for food production.

Assumes responsibility for kitchen in absence of Executive Chef & Executive Sous Chef.

Observes workers engaged in preparing, portioning, and garnishing foods to ensure that methods of cooking and garnishing and sizes of portions are as prescribed.

Gives instructions to cooking personnel in fine points of cooking, maintaining standards of quality, cost, visual appeal and flavor of foods.

Cooks and carves meats, and prepares dishes, such as sauces, during rush periods and for banquets and other social functions.

Makes recommendations for maintenance, repair and upkeep of the kitchen, equipment and other areas of the restaurant.

Assists Executive Chef & Executive Sous Chef in scheduling line-level employees. 

Assists Executive Chef & Executive Sous Chef in preparing for special on & off-site events.

Position will perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

Assumes responsibility of maintaining cleanliness & order of kitchen stations & equipment.

Competencies / Abilities

Education/Formal Training
Two to four years related upscale experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate Culinary Degree is a plus, but not mandatory.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates and Licenses
Health Department Food Safety Certificate

Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
