Summary:
The Assistant Banquet Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of each event, including set-up, food presentation and service as well as quality control and guest satisfaction. The Assistant Banquet Manger is also responsible for assisting the supervision of banquet captains and associates which includes; hiring, training, coaching, disciplinary actions and reviews.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Understands and reinforces the Ponte values and service standards to all banquet staff.
+ Ensure safety of guests and associates.
+ Maintains constant communication with banquet captains, guests and on-site contacts to ensure all expectations are met or exceeded.
+ Monitors on-site contacts and/or guests complaints and responds appropriately to ensure satisfaction.
+ Ensures that all functions are set-up correctly, in show condition and the banquet staff are prepared and organized prior to the start of the event.
+ Ensures the proper set up and d cor of the buffet tables and food service tables.
+ Assists in developing innovative and creative d cor for banquet functions and space.
+ Ensures banquet standard operating procedures are being followed.
+ Perform walkthroughs in all banquet department areas to ensure full compliance with Department of Health regulations and Ponte Winery standards.
+ Oversees the clean up and post function tear down to ensure a clean and orderly back of the house and storage areas as well as all equipment is returned to the proper locations.
+ Assists with regular staff training programs and assists with conducting regular staff meetings.
+ Assists with conducting interviews and executes the proper hiring procedures.
+ Provides the banquet staff with a schedule in a timely manner and creates the schedule according to the event requirements.
+ Assigns room set up/break down details to banquet staff and manages the banquet event order folder.
+ Assists with ordering all linen and equipment for all events.
+ Maintains bar and inventory of all banquet equipment.
+ Administrative tasks including administration of payroll, reports, and forecasts, point of sales procedures, inventory and budget for food and beverage functions. Assists with maintaining weekly and monthly forecast and actual labor per hour revenue report.
+ Understand and adhere to environmental standards set by the winery.
Required Experience:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Previous supervisory experience is required.
+ 2-5 years of experience in the Banquet Department.
+ Exhibits integrity (honesty and truthfulness).
+ Flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends, holidays and varied schedule.
+ Ability to be 'on-stage' at all times.
+ Ability to work in a fast paced environment and anticipate guests needs.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Must be creative, innovative, detail oriented and organized.
+ High energy with a positive and professional appearance.
+ Ability to be courteous, motivational leader and effective trainer on providing excellent customer service.
+ FOODSAFE certification is required.
+ Microsoft Office skills: Excel, Word and Outlook.
