### Summary
The selectee for this position will serve as a Child Development Center Director in the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.

### Responsibilities
The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
* Ensure the implementation of a developmentally appropriate program that promotes the social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth of children.
* Ensure programs comply with, and is assessed by adherence to the standards, criteria and law developed by the United States Marine Corps (USMC), Department of Defense (DoD), and the Military Child Care Act.
* Develop integrated budget input, conduct written analysis of budget variances, and prepare justification for funding of program resources requirements and repairs of maintenance of facilities and equipment.
* Supervise employees to include: assigning and distributing work; coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions; completing performance reviews and signing timecards; training employees; and supporting Equal Opportunity Programs.

**Requirements:**
Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Please Note: Marijuana is a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act and therefore use of marijuana is illegal under Federal law regardless of State laws. A positive drug test result for marijuana (or any other drug tested for) will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and ineligibility to apply for a position within the Department of Defense for 6 months from the date of the drug test.
Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
This position may require travel from normal duty station.
Requires overtime, evening and weekend work.
Positions that are supervisory/ managerial require that first time supervisors/managers complete a one-year trial/probationary period if not previously completed in a competitive or other excepted service position.
Selectee must possess a current valid United States driver's license.
Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Must satisfactorily complete all background checks in accordance with Department of Defense and Marine Corps policy for employees who provide child care services.
The work requires some physical exertion, e.g. lifting and carrying children and objects up to 45 pounds independently and over 45 pounds with assistance.
### Qualifications

Applicants must possess a degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position; OR a degree that included education in child development or early childhood education; OR a degree that included child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education (early childhood emphasis), or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled; OR a degree that included education in child care administration in addition to child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled.

Applicants must possess a combination of education and experience in which courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector; or successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience as a professional Supervisory Child Development Center Director administering and supervising child development programs and services that meets the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of children (e.g. childcare and preschool services, development programs for children ages 6 weeks to 18 years old, emergency care, developmental assessment, staff training and parent education programs).
