Job Description Job Summary The Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group (MCTOG) mission is to provide standardized advanced training and certification to Ground Combat Element (GCE) Operations Officers, Operations Chiefs, and select other GCE training specialists in GCE operations, combined arms planning and integration, and unit readiness planning at the company, battalion, and regiment levels to support GCE Training and Readiness (T&R) events. The Fires Automated Data Systems Support Specialist will provide technical and tactical fire support data subject matter expertise (SME) through digital and voice assets. Facilitate exercise control (EXCON) and higher headquarters control (HICON) during MCTOG exercises through analyst support to the Fires Cell and Response Cell. Research, validate, and construct fires systems databases integrated into MCTOG exercises. In this effort, enable HICON, Training Unit Staff and Students, and Response Cells to complete the fires cycle and automated fires process execution. Furthermore, provide SME to support MCTOG Staff fires and effects planning of current and emerging exercise scenarios. Ensure that the training audience can experience a realistic simulation that incorporates the current automated fire support systems they can expect to use in future operations. Key Accountabilities Install, operate, and maintain AFATDS, C2 System Injectors, JADOCS, and TLDHS. Perform System Administrator duties on designated C2 Fires Systems, to include database and system security management. Develop and provide instruction for C2 Fires Systems and MAGTF Fires processes. Provide technical advice to Information Management Officers, Exercise Control Cell, and Communication Division. Recommend system upgrades and changes. Periodically travel to conferences and/or systems courses. Instruct on C2 Fires Systems interoperability with respect to each C2 system. Network and integrate C2 Fires Systems with other program of record and experimental applications / systems. Assist with exercise product development using fires data systems. Build current fires data bases and repositories. Perform as a C2 Fires System operator ISO exercises. Perform as a fires response cell role ISO exercises. Qualifications Knowledge and Skills Manages integrated and comprehensive fire support systems in support of full-spectrum simulated military exercises. Basic understanding of Unix (Solaris) and Windows Operating Systems. Working knowledge of C2 and information systems to include formal military instruction. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of military operations and organizations to include military doctrine, tactics, and command relationships. Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team. Possess self-motivation and a high level of discretion to work effectively under a minimum level of supervision. Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail. Experience and Education Associate’s Degree is required. Bachelor’s degree is desired. 3 years of minimum experience in the following: Operations System Administration Military training/education Certifications per DODINST 8570 required: CompTIA Network+ CompTIA Security+ Technical fire direction experience required, tactical fire experience desired. Completion of a military level career school preferred, officer or NCO. Former fire direction center (FDC) trained artillery man preferred. Real world operations participation in deployment and employment command and control methods and systems for ground combat, aviation, supporting arms, and combat service support units desired. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Garrison work environment including but not limited to: occasional field/tactical environments occasional extended working hours will be required Secret Security Clearance Required Travel May be required to travel OCONUS to conduct installation, training or maintenance. Domestic travel may be required for training and program coordination.
